Yeah you are right. ADV Elixirs can only used one time on Weapon/Shield/Acc/Armor. It's always 100% success! The Enchantment can't be deleted.
If you try now to upgrade your +12 Bow (Advance D is in use) with Elixirs and it fails. Your Bow will get +4.
And so i know - With beginning of +6 your Item can be destroyed or get bad Durability. This means +5 is safe and if you have an ADV Elixir on this Items you have to Plus (+) this with +5!
For understanding:
+5 = Can fail
+6 = Can be destroyed or getting bad Durability
+5 (+ADV D +4) = +9 = Can fail
+6 (+ADV D +4) = +10 = Can be destroyed or getting bad Durability
